Free Crochet Pattern Deer Teething Ring

This pattern is for my Deer Teething Ring! With cotton yarn it is approx. 4” from top of antlers to bottom of ring. The pattern includes instructions and helpful pics for making the deer head as shown and how to attach it to the ring.

Deer Teething Ring
Approx. 4”

Materials Needed:

*I Love This Cotton yarn (4-medium) in Brown, Taupe, Ivory, and Black
*Size E hook (3.5mm)
*Tapestry needle for sewing in ends
*Scissors
*Stitch Marker
*Stuffing
*1.5” Wooden Teething Ring 

Gauge: With an E hook 9sc and 8 rows= 2.2”

Abbreviations:
Ch: chain
Slst: slip stitch
Sc: single crochet
Scdec: single crochet decrease
MC: magic circle
( ): repeat same stitches
BB: back bump

Head- With Brown, Ivory, Taupe, and an E hook
Starting Brown
Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 6sc in the MC. Slst to join. (6) Tie off and weave in ends.
Switch to Ivory
Round 2: 2sc around. (12)
Round 3: sc around. (12)
Round 4: (2sc, sc) around. (18) Tie off and weave in ends.
Switch to Taupe
Round 5: sc around. (18)
Round 6: (2sc, sc next 2) around. (24)
Round 7-9: sc around. (24)
Round 10: (scdec, sc next 2) around. (18)
Round 11: (scdec, sc) around. (12) Stuff.
Round 12: scdec around. (6) Tie off and weave in ends. (This is the back) Sew on eyes with Black between rounds 5&6 approx. 2 stiches apart.

Ears (make 2)- With Ivory, Taupe, and an E hook
Starting with Ivory

Row 1: ch7, sc in the BB of 2nd ch from hook and each BB across. (6)
Row 2: ch1 and turn, scdec, sc next 2, scdec. (4)
Row 3: ch1 and turn, sc across. (4)
Row 4: ch1 and turn, scdec x 2. (2)
Row 5: ch1 and turn, scdec. (1) Tie off and weave in ends.
Switch to Taupe
Attach Taupe and sc around your ear placing 2sc in each corner. Slst to join. Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Fold the bottom of your ear over and sew together. Sew ears on to head between arounds 7-9.

Antlers (make 2)- With Brown and an E hook
Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 6sc in the MC. Slst to join. (6)
Round 2-5: sc around. (6) Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Stuff. Sew bottom closed and attach to head between rounds 8&9 approx. 2 stitches apart.
 
Ring Wrap- With Taupe and an E hook
Row 1: ch7 and turn, sc in the BB of 2nd ch from hook and each BB across. (6)
Row 2-5: ch1 and turn, sc across. (6) Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Wrap your piece around the wooden ring and sew the sides together. Sew Deer head to Ring Wrap.
