Free Crochet Boba Fett Hat Pattern



This adorable hat was modeled after the Boba Fett hat by Dragonbird Creations. My pattern for making the hat base with the front piece is listed below. Check out Dragonbird Creations blog for the pattern for the side piece.  

Baby Boba Fett Hat

What you’ll need:
* Size H and G hooks
* I love this yarn in Light Sage, Yellow, Red, Black, Grey,
* Tapestry needle for sewing in ends
* little bit of stuffing

Gauge: with H hook, 9dc and 4 rows= 2.5”x 2.5”

Abbreviations:
       *ch- chain
       *BB- back bump
       *sc- single crochet
       *slst- slip stitch
       *scdec- single crochet decrease
       *hdc- half double crochet
       *dc- double crochet
       *CSDC- chainless starting double crochet

Note: I’ve omitted the chains at the begging of the rounds to get rid of the seam. I’ve added the chainless starting double crochet instead. The CSDC of each round will act like your chain and will be hidden in your work and not crocheted into. Make sure you place your last dc in the same stitch you placed your CSDC, and slst to the 1st dc to join. You’ll be skipping over the CSDC when you slst to join.  (See pics below)

6-9 Months- With Light Sage, Yellow, Red, and an H hook
0-3 Months: Omit Round 6 and Round 13
3-6 Months: Omit Round 6
Starting with Light Sage
Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 10sc in the MC. Slst to join. (10)
Round 2: CSDC, dc in same stitch, 2dc in next stitch and each stitch around ending with a dc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. (skip CSDC when you join) (20)
Round 3: CSDC, dc in same stitch, (*dc in next, 2dc in next) repeat from * around ending with a dc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. (30)
Round 4: CSDC, dc in same stitch, (*dc in next 2, 2dc in next) repeat from * around ending with a dc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. (40)
Round 5: CSDC, dc in same stitch, (*dc in next 3, 2dc in next) repeat from * around ending with a dc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. (50)
Round 6: CSDC, dc in next stitch and each stitch around placing your last dc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Sls to 1st dc to join.
You’ll be working Round 7 with Light Sage and a little Yellow added in. Carry the yarn as you go.
Round 7: Continue with Light Sage, CSDC, dc in next 24 stitches, (*Yellow for next stitch, Light Sage next stitch) repeat from * 5 more times till you have 6 yellow stitches. Tie the Yellow off and continue with Light Sage for the rest of the round ending with a dc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. (50)
Switch to Red (carry Light Sage up)
Round 8: With Red, CSDC, hdc in next stitch and each stitch around ending with a hdc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Slst to 1st hdc to join. (50) Tie Red off and weave in ends.
Switch to Light Sage
Round 9-13: with Light Sage, CSDC, dc in next stitch and each stitch around placing your last dc in the same stitch as your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. Tie off and weave in ends. (50)

Front Piece- With Black, Red, and an H hook
Starting with Black
Row 1: ch15, dc in the BB of 2nd ch from hook and each BB across. (14)
Row 2: ch1 and turn, slst in the first 3 stitches. Sc in next 8 stitches. (8)
Row 3-8: sc in each stitch across. (8)
Switch to Red
Row 9: With Red, ch1 and turn, sc in each stitch across. Continue to sc down the left side and around your whole piece placing 2sc in each corner and 2dc in each side spot. (see pic) Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew on to hat so that the top red part of your piece is on top of the red row of your hat.  

Side Piece- With Yellow, Black, Grey, Red, and a G hook
Follow the pattern by Dragonbird Creations with a G hook.
