Free Crochet Thor Hat Pattern

Thor Hat

What you’ll need:
*Size H hook
*I Love This Yarn in Grey Mist and White
*Tapestry needle for sewing and weaving in ends
*Scissors
       
Gauge: With an H hook 6dc and 4 rows= 2”x 2”

Abbreviations:
*MC- magic circle
*ch- chain
*slst- slip stitch
*sc- single crochet
*dc- double crochet
*fpdc- front post double crochet
*bpslst- back post slip stitch
*bpsc- back post single crochet
*bpdc- back post double crochet
*bbl- bobble (with 4dc)

*Special Stitches
BBl- This bobble is made with 4dc. (*Yarn over, insert your hook in to the stitch, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) Repeat from * 3 more times, yarn over and pull through remaining loops. 1 bobble made.

Hat Newborn (0-3,3-6,6-9)- With Grey Mist and an H hook
**Add 1 more round after Round 8 for 0-3mo, 2 more rounds for 3-6mo, and 3 more rounds for 6-9.
Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 10dc in the MC. Slst to join. (10)
Round 2: ch1, 2fpdc in same stitch, 2dc in each of the next 4 stitches, 2fpdc in the next stitch, 2dc in each of the next 4 stitches. Slst to join. (20)
Round 3: ch1, fpdc around first stitch, fpdc and dc in next stitch, (*dc, 2dc) repeat from * 3 times, fpdc in next stitch, fpdc and dc in next stitch, (*dc, 2dc) repeat from * 3 times. Slst to join. (30)
Round 4: ch1, fpdc around first 2 stitches, 2dc in next stitch, (*dc in next 2 stitches, 2dc) repeat from * 3 times, fpdc around next 2 stitches, (*2dc, dc in next 2 stitches) repeat from * 3 times, 2dc in last stitch. Slst to join. (40)
Round 5: ch1, fpdc around first 2 stitches, dc in next stitch, 2dc in next stitch, (*dc next 3 stitches, 2dc) repeat from * 3 times, fpdc around next 2 stitches, dc in next stitch, 2dc in next stitch, (*dc in next 3 stitches, 2dc) repeat from * 3 times. Slst to join. (50)
Round 6-8: ch1, fpdc around first 2 stitches, dc in next 23 stitches, fpdc around next 2 stitches, dc in last 23 stitches. Slst to join. (50)
Round 9: ch1, bpsc in each stitch around. (50)
Round 10: ch1, (*bbl, dc in next 4 stitches) repeat from * around. Slst to join. (50)
Round 11: ch1, slst in the 3rd loop of each bbl, and bpslst in each dc stitch around. Slst to join. (50)

Hat 9-12mo (toddler, child)-With Grey Mist and an H hook
**Add 1 more round after Round 13 for toddler and 2 more rounds for child.
Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 10dc in the MC. Slst to join. (10)
Round 2: ch1, 2fpdc in same stitch, 2dc in each of the next 4 stitches, 2fpdc in the next stitch, 2dc in each of the next 4 stitches. Slst to join. (20)
Round 3: ch1, fpdc around first stitch, fpdc and dc in next stitch, (*dc, 2dc) repeat from * 3 times, fpdc in next stitch, fpdc and dc in next stitch, (*dc, 2dc) repeat from * 3 times. Slst to join. (30)

Row 3: ch1 and turn, sc across. (14)
Row 4: ch1 and turn, sc in next 12 stitches. (12)
Row 5: ch1 and turn, sc across. (12)
Row 6: ch1 and turn, sc in next 10 stitches. (10)
Row 7: ch1 and turn, sc across. (10)
Row 8: ch1 and turn, sc in next 8 stitches. (8)

Left Wing (small sizes)- With White and an H hook
Row 1: ch17, sc in the BB of each ch across. (16) ch1 and continue to sc up the other side.
