Free Crochet Pattern Whale Teething Ring

This pattern is for my Whale Teething Ring! With cotton yarn it is approx. 4” from top of blowhole to bottom of ring. The pattern includes instructions and helpful pics for making the whale body and how to attach it to the ring.

Whale Teething Ring

Approx. 4”

Materials Needed:

*I Love This Cotton yarn (4-medium) in Stonewash Blue, White, and Black

*Size E hook (3.5mm)

*Tapestry needle for sewing in ends

*Scissors

*Stitch Marker

*Stuffing

*1.5” Wooden Teething Ring 

Gauge: With an E hook 9sc and 8 rows= 2.2”

Abbreviations:

Ch: chain

Slst: slip stitch

Sc: single crochet

Scdec: single crochet decrease

Hdc: half double crochet

Dc: double crochet

Htr: half treble crochet

MC: magic circle

( ): repeat same stitches

[ ]: place all of the stitches in to same stitch

BB: back bump

Body- With Stonewash Blue and an E hook

Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 6sc in the MC. (6)

Round 2: 2sc around. (12)

Round 3: (2sc, sc) around. (18)

Round 4: (2sc, sc next 2) around. (24)

Round 5-8: sc around. (24)

Round 9: (scdec, sc next 2) around. (18)

Round 10-11: sc around. (18) Stuff.

Round 12: (scdec, sc) around. (12)

Round 13-14: sc around. (12)

Round 15: (scdec, sc) around. (8)

Round 16-17: sc around. (8) Finish stuffing.

Round 18: (scdec, sc next 2) around. (6)

Round 19: ([2hdc, 2dc, 2htr] in first stitch, [2dc, 2hdc] in next, slst in next) repeat. Tie off, sew hole closed, and weave in ends.

Blowhole- With White and an E hook

Attach yarn to Round 7. (Center it between the tail)  

Row 1: ch5 and turn, 4hdc in 2^nd ch from hook, sc in next 3, slst back in whale head. Repeat. Add eyes in Black between Rounds 6&7 approx. 4 stitches down from Blowhole.

Ring Wrap- With White and an E hook

Row 1: ch7 and turn, sc in the BB of 2^nd ch from hook and each BB across. (6)

Row 2-5: ch1 and turn, sc across. (6) Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Wrap your piece around the wooden ring and sew the sides together. Sew Whale body to Ring Wrap.
