Free Crochet Beginner Newborn Hat Pattern

I'm excited to share this super quick Beginner Newborn Hat pattern with you all! Depending on how fast you crochet, you can whip out a couple of these in less than an hour whenever you're in a pinch for a gift! They would be so cute in stripes, color blocking, or any solid color! Hope you enjoy!

Beginner Newborn Hat

What you'll need:

* Size H hook

* I love this yarn in Grey

*Crochet needle for sewing in ends

Gauge: with H hook, 6dc and 4 rows= 2”x 2”

Abbreviations:
*MC- magic circle 

*ch- chain

*slst- slip stitch

*dc- double crochet 
CSDC-chainless starting double crochet

Note: I’ve PMomitted the chains at the begging of the rounds to get rid of the seam. I’ve added the chainless starting double crochet instead. The CSDC of each round will act like your chain and will be hidden in your work and not crocheted into. Make sure you place your last dc in the same stitch you placed your CSDC, and slst to the 1st dc of the round. You’ll be skipping over the CSDC when you slst to join.  (See pics below)

CSDC, DC in same stitch 

     Place your last dc in same stitch as you did your CSDC

Slst to 1^st dc to join  

Newborn- With Grey and an H hook

Round 1: MC, ch1 and place 10sc in MC. Slst to join. (10)

Round 2: CSDC, dc in same stitch, 2dc in each stitch around ending with a dc in the same stitch as you did your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. (skip CSDC when you join) (20)

Round 3: CSDC, dc in same stitch, (*dc in next, 2dc in next) repeat * around ending with a dc in the same stitch as you did your CSDC. Slst to 1st dc to join. (30)

Round 4: CSDC, dc in same stitch, (*dc in next 2, 2dc in next) repeat from * around ending with a dc in the same stitch as you did your CSDC, slst to 1st dc to join. (40)

Round 5: CSDC, dc in same stitch, (*dc in next 3, 2dc in next) repeat * around ending with a dc in the same stitch as you did your CSDC, slst to 1st dc to join. (50)

Round 6-10: CSDC, dc in next stitch and each stitch around ending with a dc in the same stitch you did your CSDC, slst to 1st dc to join. (50) Tie off and weave in ends. (50)
