Free Crochet Dino Pattern

Approx. 11”x 7”.

Materials Needed:

*I Love This Cotton yarn (4-medium) in Red and Black.

*Size E hook (3.5mm)

*Tapestry needle for sewing in ends

*Scissors

*Stitch Marker

*Stuffing

*6mm Safety Eyes 

Gauge: With an E hook 9sc and 8 rows= 2.2”

Abbreviations:

Ch: chain

Slst: slip stitch

Sc: single crochet

Scdec: single crochet decrease

Hdc: half double crochet 

MC: magic circle

( ): repeat same stitches

[]: place all of the stitches in the same stitch

Bobble: 4dc in same stitch with a ch x 1 to close

Special Stitch:

Bobble Stitch: yarn over, insert your hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Repeat 3 more times. Yarn over pull through remaining loops and ch x 1 to close. That ch x 1 will count as a stitch.

Starting with red

Round 1: MC, ch1, place 6sc in the MC. (6)

Round 2: 2sc around. (12) (carry red)

Switch to black

Round 3: puff x 3, Tie off and weave in ends. Switch to red, sc x 9. (15 including closing puff ch)

Round 4: scdec x 3, sc x 9. (12)

Round 5: (scdec, sc x 2) around. (9)

Round 6-16: sc around. (9) Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Stuff and sew to bottom of dino approx. 3 stitches apart.

Crest in red

Round 1: MC, [ch x 2, dc x 4, ch x 2, slst x 1]. (6) Tie off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew to top of head between rounds 5-8.
